In the month of April, the PUP Psychology Students Association will be launching a department-wide series of online academic contests in light of World Autism Awareness.

Get ready for the Ψ UTAK: Psychology Ultimate Tournament of Academic Knowledge!

This competitive event is made to revitalize the spirit in the Psychology student body while providing information on the topic of Autism through engagement in different contests designed to spread awareness and appreciation to persons in the autism spectrum in society.

The contest title acknowledges the concept of pens (often a literary symbol) that are specially made for children with autism, which may promote awareness on the existence of tailored items that are facilitative for people with autism, specifically in the Philippines.


Contest Mechanics:

1. There are three categories for the Literary Contest: Twitter-serye Short Story, Photo Essay, and Poetry. No registration is required; however, the participants must:

a. Like and follow PUPPSA, Trident, and Autism Strong Philippines’ official social media pages, whichever is applicable.

b. Use the following hashtags applicable to your chosen category.

Twitter-serye Short Story




2. All entries MUST:

a. be written with the purpose of shedding light on and promoting literary pieces about the Autism Spectrum in a respectful and non-offensive manner; b. encourage and empower people with autism; c. be written in English, Filipino, or both; and d. be original and unpublished.

3. ...and MUST NOT:

a. use foul language that is offensive, disrespectful, and are inferring an attack to a specific person/organization; b. identify actual people (living or deceased), places, products, or organizations unless permitted by those concerned; and c. be an existing published work.


  • For the Twitter-serye Short Story category: a. Participants must create a short story in a Twitter thread format embodying a social media serye that must be posted on Twitter ONLY. However, Tweet links and/or screenshots may be shared across other social media platforms to promote audience interaction. b. Tweet replies must be restricted to the author only. A minimum of 20 tweets and a maximum of 100 tweets in a thread must be posted on the participant’s public Twitter profile. c. The serye must be posted within the contest period following one of the two options: • All at once at the same day; or • Updated periodically (daily, every 2 days, weekly, etc). d. Participants are allowed to be as creative as possible, granted that participating account/s follow/s @puppsa1982 and @thetridentpup on Twitter, and the official category hashtags mentioned above are used.

  • For the Photo Essay category: a. Participants must write a post of 50 to 280 words campaigning #AutismAwarenessMonth through a quote, passage, personal testimony, or any direction of choice in an essay posted with an image relevant to the cause. b. Entries may be posted on Facebook, Twitter (maximum of 280 characters only), or Instagram with these official hashtags mentioned earlier. c. At the end of each entry, participants must nominate a friend/follower to participate in the campaign by mentioning/tagging their accounts in the comment section.

  • For the Poetry category: a. Participants must publicly post a poem of any length and form following #AutismAwarenessMonth on their personal social media account/s using the official hashtags on Facebook, Instagram, and/or Twitter (maximum of 280 characters). b. Entries may be shared across the platforms to encourage audience engagement through reactions, shares, or comments.

Scoring Mechanics:

  1. After the initial entry review and screening by the contest facilitators, qualified entries will be evaluated by the PUPPSA, Trident, and notable judges.

  2. Participants have a period of April 1 - 24 to promote their entries.

  3. Judging and evaluation of each entry based on the criteria for judging will occur from April 25-29.

  4. Winners will be announced in a dedicated post on PUPPSA's page and Trident’s pages on April 30, 2021.

Content 40% (Coherence, Relevance to the theme) Creativity and Originality 30% Style and Structure 20% Popularity 10% (Social Media Impact)
